Over the years I have successfully used natural
remedies to cure minor ailments, I would stress that if you are at all worried
about your dog to always seek vetinary help. Anaemia, Blackberries, black grapes or parsley added to
diet. Anal Glands, infected. Boil two handfuls of Sage in
water and allow to cool, spray on glands using an old plant spray. Antiseptic, use neat Rice Vinegar. Appetite, loss of, grated raw apple or celery added to
diet. Arthritis, chopped raw parsley added to diet. Bad breadth, minced parsley, mint and raw carrot added
to diet. Bloat, if your dog is prone to bloat give it a small
portion of natural yoghurt after meals, this will keep gases to a minimum. Boils, Strap a warm used teabag to the boil and change
every few hours. Burns, Apply yoghurt or a cold used tea bag. Bites, Dog bites, bathe with an infusion of Rosemary.
Insect bites, apply any kind of vinegar or lemon juice. Spray Red wine vinegar
over the dog to keep insects away. Carsickness, Use a half-inch of fresh ginger grated and
infused with half a cupful of hot water. Strain and give to dog when cool enough
one hour before journey. Chewing paws, mix one tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda
in one pint of hot water, allow to cool and soak the paws in for one minute.
Allow to dry naturally. Constipation, feed one dessertspoon full of plain live
yogurt twice a day. Dandruff, boil five tablespoons of dried thyme in a
pint of water for ten minutes, strain and cool, spray on coat, rub in and leave
to dry, use twice a week. Diarrhoea, feed two tablespoons of natural yoghurt four
times a day, no other food for twenty-four hours and plenty of water. Ear mites, soak six garlic cloves in one cup of olive
oil, remove garlic after two days; drop a few drops of oil in ear heated to
warm, every other day. Eczema, soak one pound of porridge oats in a muslin bag
(or use the leg of an old pair of tights) to make a bucketful of warm shampoo.
Rinse and allow to dry naturally. Or give three milk of magnesia tablets twice a
day for three days. Fleas, add a small amount of garlic to food every day,
this will take two to three months to be affective, or Lavender essential oil
rubbed into the coat. Flea shampoo, add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to
normal shampoo. Carpets, sprinkle with salt and leave for fifteen minutes then
Hoover up, these remedies are much safer than using poisons. Mouth ulcers & sore throats, give cool black tea
sweetened with honey, one cup three times a day. Nails, bleeding quicks will stop if soft soap is
applied. Noses, cracked, apply glycerine or lip salve twice a
day. Ticks, cover the tick in nail varnish remover or
Vaseline, leave for ten minutes and ease off making sure that the head comes
too. Upset tummy/dehydration, add two dessertspoonfuls of
glucose and a half a teaspoon of salt to one pint of boiling water, and give
when cool, if the dog is reluctant to drink use a syringe to drop it in his
mouth. Warts, apply the white fluid from the stem of
dandelion. |
